With the joint project funding with FIG agreed including the partial cost recovery per bale throughput, FIDC with support from FIG put out to tender the management of the proposed new facility for the Islands’ wool industry. In July 2021 The Falkland Islands Wool Company Ltd (WoolCo) were announced as the new facility manager following the successful tender process.

Working in partnership with the new facility managers, FIG Departments of Agriculture and Development and Commercial Services, FIDC devised a robust tender for the design and build of the purpose- built wool warehouse.

The Falkland Islands Company were the successful contractors and plans for the construction are well underway with the expected completion date of April 2023, neatly coinciding with the end of the wool season.
