Louise Ellis joins FIDC as a Development Officer, tasked with delivering practical support to Island businesses.
Louise has a background in education and management, previous experience in the private sector in the UK and in the Islands and most recently in the public sector as a member of the Policy Unit of the Falkland Islands Government.

FIDC is delighted to report a dynamic start to 2018 with the appointment of a Director of Wool Innovation, to start in this newly-created post towards the end of February, plus the successful local recruitment of an additional Development Officer, joining the team from the beginning of next month.
Updated information on the Rural Energy Partnership projects for Harps Farm, Saunders Island Farm and Teal Inlet is now available on our website. The energy savings from each system has been calculated thanks to the close monitoring done in partnership with the stakeholders. A short annual report has been produced for each of the project to highlight their benefits. We are delighted to report that the three systems have performed even better than expected, allowing significant fuel cost savings and demonstrating a great return on investment. FIDC leads a public consultation into Camp for economic and business development priorities.
Meetings will take place starting in December on the West, to scope the community’s priorities under the Rural Development Strategy (RDS), as the current Action Plan ends and a new 3-year phase begins.
With the new Rural Development portfolio holders, the Hon. Mark Pollard MLA and the Hon. Teslyn Barkman MLA, now in place following the elections, this presents a timely opportunity for them to host the meetings alongside FIDC’s Development team.
