Meetings will take place starting in December on the West, to scope the community’s priorities under the Rural Development Strategy (RDS), as the current Action Plan ends and a new 3-year phase begins.
With the new Rural Development portfolio holders, the Hon. Mark Pollard MLA and the Hon. Teslyn Barkman MLA, now in place following the elections, this presents a timely opportunity for them to host the meetings alongside FIDC’s Development team.

Wool Report – Press Release
FIDC is pleased to announce the public release of the ‘Value Adding Opportunities for Falkland Islands’ Wool’ report. The report, authored by Blake + Associates Consulting, proposes ten recommendations to improve the wool returns of Falkland wool growers.
The report is a culmination of a visit by two representatives from Blake + Associates Consulting in February 2017. The week-long visit by Michael Blake and Mark Rodda in February consisted of a number of meetings with wool stakeholders, workshops held at Goose Green and Fox Bay, and a number of farm visits, which provided the consultants with a diverse range of views throughout the Falklands’ wool sector.
Mr Blake will be returning to the Falklands on the 20th May 2017, for his second visit. During this week-long visit, Mr Blake will be meeting wool stakeholders across the islands to present and discuss his report and its recommendations. It is planned that Mr Blake will hold presentations on East and West Falkland during the week, which will be open for anyone interested in Falklands’ wool to attend. The programme for Mr Blake’s visit in May will be promoted once it has been agreed.
